ABOUT
Psychologist, Coach & Founder Studio Welzijn: Aysa Sari
Well-being consists of so many components, why is there no place where everything comes together?
The statement above is something you have often heard me say over the past few years. During my training as a psychologist, I noticed that the concept of 'mental health' is often still viewed from a framed perspective. A focus on alleviating symptoms, on everything that is going wrong, and on the past. Of course, this is sometimes important too, but I prefer to work from the vision that it is even more important to empower someone, to look at what someone can do, and above all: where someone wants to go.
In 2017, I started the Bachelor's in Psychology at Leiden University and, alongside that, I thoroughly enjoyed working with various target groups. This included providing outpatient support to children and adolescents with mental health needs, volunteering in mental healthcare, and working as a lunchtime supervisor at primary schools. After an adventurous six months as an au pair in various countries, I subsequently obtained the Master's in Health & Medical Psychology at Leiden University – after which I had the opportunity to get a taste of mental healthcare through my internship and subsequently as a graduated Psychologist.
All day just sitting on two chairs facing each other in a clinical setting;
That's not for me.
Yet, something always gnawed at me during my studies and in the professional field; I enjoy working with mental health on a broader level, with room for creativity, modern techniques, and the body as an enhancement of the psyche. Without losing sight of the scientific basis. I decided to make this my mission in 2024, which resulted in the founding of Studio Welzijn.
Studio Welzijn is a place for young and old where various facets of well-being
coming together: psychology, sport, lifestyle, meaning, relaxation, inspiration and more.
In this, I can combine my various interests in areas related to well-being, as well as my affinity for different target groups: from the sometimes searching adolescent to the doubting student and the adult seeking direction.
And very importantly: in a warm setting with an eye for a 'healing environment'. Because a pleasant space where you feel comfortable is also important for your well-being, isn't it? In my guidance, I consider it important to create a sense of warmth, trust, and approachability for everyone. Trust in you and your abilities is central. I believe that every step is a step in the right direction, no matter how small or large.
